Kelowna Triathlon grows to include hockey, golf, and soccer

In April, more than 130 Associated Engineering staff and their partners gathered in Kelowna for a weekend of sports and fun. What originally started as an inter-office hockey tournament held every two years has now become a “triathlon” of sporting activities. In addition to the hockey tournament, other events included golfing and soccer. To cap off the weekend of activities, our hosts, the Kelowna office, also organized a wine tour.

This year, our Calgary team took home the cup in the Round Robin hockey tournament. Peter DeGroot reports, “Relentless wave-after-wave of offence from the Calgary team wore down the defence of the defending champions, the Burnaby Ice Dogs.”

On the golf course, the Edmonton team won the Ken Yetman Memorial Cup, and on the soccer pitch, the B.C. team had the
winning combination.

Many thanks to Sam King and the Kelowna office for organizing the good weather and another fine tournament!

Edmonton office building renamed Associated Engineering Plaza

On June 14, 2005, Kerry Rudd, President, along with Associated Engineering founder and former president, Norm Lawrence, former presidents, Stan Lawrence, Vince Borch, and Alistair Black, and the Honourable Ed Stelmach, Alberta Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations, unveiled Associated Engineering Plaza. Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel brought greetings from the City and assisted in the cake cutting ceremony.

The renaming of our office building in Edmonton to Associated Engineering Plaza reflects the growth of the company and reinforces our commitment to Edmonton as our corporate headquarters.

Also on hand to celebrate the occasion were Edmonton Councillor Jane Batty, Allan Scott, President and CEO of the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation, and many clients, staff, and friends of Associated Engineering.

Associated Engineering was founded in Edmonton almost 60 years ago. Since then, we have grown to more than 500 staff in 12 offices across Canada.
