Fred Albanese, P.Eng. has joined our Toronto office as leader of our Instrumentation and Controls team in Ontario. Fred has over 20 years of experience in process development, control systems design, PLC programming, and SCADA systems design for water and wastewater facilities. His experience also includes commissioning, training, and project management. Fred brings his experience from control systems design on some of the largest treatment facilities in Canada, such as the Humber and Ashbridges Bay Wastewater Treatment Plants in Toronto.

Pat Coleman, Ph.D., P.Eng. has joined our Toronto office as a Senior Wastewater Process Specialist. Pat has over 20 years experience on wastewater projects across Canada, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. A specialist in biological nutrient removal, Pat’s experience includes pilot plant design and operation, modelling, treatment plant assessment and audits, wastewater characterization, treatment plant design, process optimization, and commissioning, and training. Pat has participated in the design of some of the largest wastewater treatment plants in the world, such as the Dublin Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) plant and the Reading Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) plant in the UK.

Andrew Dutton, P.Eng. has joined our Calgary office as a Senior Project Manager. Andrew has over 30 years experience in project management and design of water and wastewater pumping and treatment facilities. His experience encompasses environmental impact assessments, feasibility studies, design, and construction services. Andrew has been responsible for the design and construction of wastewater collection and treatment systems in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. He also brings a global perspective having participated in the design of wastewater treatment plants in the US, UK, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Bill Heywood, P.Eng. has joined our Regina office as a Senior Project Manager on water and wastewater projects. His experience includes water studies, pipelines, pump stations, and water and wastewater treatment plant design and upgrades. Bill brings his expertise from both small and large systems, having worked on a range of projects from septage systems and lagoons to large mechanical plants. Bill is an active member of the Western Canada Water and Waste Association and currently holds the position of Vice President.

Peter A. Hooge, M.Sc., P.Eng. has joined our Saskatoon office as a Senior Project Manager. A Mechanical Engineer, Peter has more than 20 years experience in consulting engineering. His experience includes project management and design of multi-disciplined water and wastewater projects. He has participated in the design of water and wastewater pumping and treatment facilities, as well as building services and HVAC design for a wide range of commercial, industrial, institutional, agricultural, and municipal projects.

Bryan Petzold, MBA, P.Eng. has joined our Edmonton office as Manager of Transportation for our Alberta operation. Bryan has 28 years of experience encompassing design, construction, operation and maintenance of transportation infrastructure. His expertise includes transportation planning, highway design, and project management of complex projects such as interchanges and airside construction at airports. Bryan’s previous experience as an employee of highway departments in Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan provides him with a unique understanding of the requirements for provincial highway networks.

Steven Rowe, P.Eng., a Senior Environmental Engineer, has joined our Calgary office, after spending three years with Wessex Water in the U.K. Steven has 18 years of experience encompassing project management, municipal engineering, and resident engineering for major wastewater projects. Steven’s experience includes resident engineering on the $500 million secondary upgrade of the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Vancouver area.

Mike Whalley, M.Eng., P.Eng. has joined our Calgary office as a Senior Wastewater Specialist. Mike has 28 years experience in process-mechanical design of municipal and industrial wastewater and water treatment plants. He has participated in major treatment plant designs in Calgary and Red Deer. Specializing in the design of ultraviolet (UV) disinfection facilities, Mike has participated in the design of UV facilities for wastewater treatment plants around the world, including major plants in Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Kelowna, Toronto area, Dublin (Ireland), and El Paso (Texas).

Employee Announcements

Dieter Diedericks, P.Eng., PMP of our Burnaby office recently received his Project Management Professional (PMP) designation. Dieter is a civil engineer with 11 years of experience in municipal, commercial, and industrial infrastructure engineering projects. His broad experience includes planning and design of sanitary sewers, water systems, drainage, roadworks, and utilities, both in Canada and in South Africa. Dieter is currently the Director of Strategies for the West Coast B.C. Chapter of PMI.

Julien Henley, M.A.Sc., P.Eng. has been appointed as Manager of Forestry Services in B.C. Julien is a Civil Engineer with ten years experience encompassing design, assessment, and construction of bridges and structures. He has participated in the design and construction of hundreds of bridges for the public and private sector, including awardwinning designs for the Front Street SkyTrain Guideway in New Westminster, the McKay River Bridge for CNRL near Fort McMurray, Alberta, and the Kapuskasing River Bridge in Ontario. Julien has also participated in the development of bridge standards and codes for the B.C. Ministry of Forests.
