AE Today Issue #3

Season's Greetings

It is my privilege to write this year-end message to all our staff, clients, and friends of Associated Engineering. 2006 has been a year of continued success for the company. We remain busy in all of our offices across Canada.

It is a particular pleasure to congratulate our team who worked on the design of the Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant Industrial Water Reuse Facility in Edmonton. Associated Engineering received the Schreyer Award, Canada’s highest honour for consulting engineers, for our work on the Gold Bar Water Reuse Facility. This award is a tribute to our staff’s innovation and engineering excellence!

The successes we have achieved on projects like the Gold Bar plant have allowed us to build our expertise and raise our profile as one of the leaders in engineering in Canada. We are proud of our past achievements, but know we have to work hard to continue to serve our clients effectively and to recruit and retain the best staff. To this end, this year, we adopted a new and exciting strategic plan to lay out the path we wish to take forward. This plan recognizes the values and culture that we have cultivated over our six decades in the consulting engineering business, documents our vision for growth, defines our commitment to our staff and clients, and recognizes our responsibility to the communities in which we work. Our plan is to extend our leadership position, explore new opportunities, and invest in our staff and our communities. The plan is challenging, bold, and exciting. With the support of our team, I know we will achieve our goals.

2006 marks the retirement of Alistair Black, P.Eng., Past President and CEO of Associated Engineering. I want to thank Alistair for his service and dedication to the company as both an employee and senior executive. Alistair, your work ethic, integrity, service to our clients, and the caring you demonstrate to all our staff are examples to all of us. We will work hard to follow in your footsteps. As you retire, we look forward to your continued guidance in your on-going role as Chairman of our Board of Directors.

To our staff, I want to take this opportunity to thank you. Your energy, enthusiasm, and service to our clients are the reasons for our continued success. To our clients, thank you for entrusting us to develop the right solutions for your project challenges. To clients, staff, and our extended Associated Engineering family, best wishes for this holiday season and the New Year from my family and me.

Kerry Rudd, P.Eng.
President & CEO
