Toronto office raises money for UNICEF
Congratulations to the Toronto office which raised $648.50 for UNICEF's Dare to Wear for Halloween. The money was raised for UNICEF's Schools for Africa program which provides access to quality education for kids in Malawi and Rwanda.
As part of the fundraiser, Vice President and General Manager of the Ontario operation, Bill De Angelis, agreed to don a Halloween costume of staff choice, if staff raised over $300. Thanks, Sumo Bill!
Associated Engineering partners with NSERC Chair in Water Treatment
Associated Engineering is pleased to announce our partnership with the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Chair in Water Treatment at the University of Waterloo. Associated Engineering will provide annual financial contributions for a renewed NSERC Chair in Water Treatment.
The purpose of the NSERC Chair in Water Treatment is to conduct leading edge and practical research in drinking water treatment and quality that is of value to the Chair partners and to the broader drinking water community. The Chairholder, Dr. Peter M. Huck, is an internationally recognized expert in water treatment.
Ian Wright, P.Eng., Vice President, Water, advises, "As leaders in water treatment in Canada, we have designed water treatment facilities which incorporate new and developing treatment technologies, where it is in the best interest of our client, the project, and public health and safety. New issues and concerns regarding provision of safe drinking water and the necessary infrastructure are constantly being identified. Dr. Huck and the Chair team are undertaking important research that we believe will increase the industry?s under- standing of these issues and point the way for developing practical solutions. We look forward to working with Dr. Huck and the Chair team on the research and development of advanced water treatment technologies."

share their experience in water supply and treatment. |
During the conference, we also had tours of the City of Calgary's Bearspaw Water Treatment Plant Residuals Treatment and Pre-treatment facilities and the City of Red Deer's renovated Water Treatment Plant. Thank you to the City of Calgary Water Resources and City of Red Deer for allowing us to tour their facilities. Thanks also to PCL Construction Management for clearing areas of the Bearspaw Water Treatment Plant, which is currently under construction, for our tours.
Ian Wright, P.Eng., Vice President, Water, and conference Chair states, "Bringing our water supply and treatment specialists together from across the country to share their experiences with our staff, clients, and guests is a critical component of our staff development programme as well as an opportunity for dialogue and feed- back from our clients and guests regarding the issues facing the water supply and treatment industry."
Special thanks also go to Claire Arnault and Lianna Mah for their assistance in organizing and hosting the conference.
