Associated Engineering raises almost $19,000
for Canadian Cancer
Society
Led by our Saskatoon Relay for Life team, Associated Engineering staff
from across the company topped previous corporate records, raising almost $19,000 for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life. For the second year in a row, Associated Engineering provided the top donation dollars in Saskatchewan to the Canadian Cancer
Society.
Congratulations to Associated Engineering’s Relay for Life team,
including Bert and Leila Munro, Peter and Dianne Hooge and family,
and Randy and Caron Seivewright. Thank you to all staff who
contributed to this worthy cause.
Ontario staff raise over $3,000
for Heart and Stroke Foundation
On May 30, 2008, employees from our St. Catharines office pedaled
through St. Catharines in the St. Catharines 2008 Big
Bike fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Associated Engineering and friends, including Commercial Digital
Print, BODAreLEAF Consulting, and St. Catharines Physiotherapy, as
well as family and friends, raised a whopping $3,175 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation!
Burnaby office raises $1,500
for Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver
On March 30, the Burnaby office Bowling Team donned their beachwear and bowling shoes and headed down to the local bowling alley for the annual Bowl for Big
Brother's Charity Bowlathon. The
Burnaby Bowling Team raised over
$1,500 to support the Big Brothers
of Greater Vancouver Foundation.

Bert Munro recognized as a Fellow of the
Canadian Society for Civil
Engineering
Bert Munro, P.Eng., Vice President &
General Manager of Associated
Engineering’s Saskatchewan operation, received the distinction of Fellow
of the Canadian Society for Civil
Engineering at the Society’s annual
conference held in Quebec City in
June. Fellowships are awarded to
individuals who have attained civil
engineering excellence and contributed actively towards progress in
their profession.
Bert has over 25 years experience in municipal and water resources
engineering. An active volunteer, Bert is currently the President of
the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of
Saskatchewan. Bert is a Past-President of the Western Canada
Water and Wastewater Association, Past Chair of the Saskatoon
Section of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, and Past Chair
of the Consulting Engineers of Saskatchewan. Congratulations, Bert
on this well-deserved recognition!
Norm D’Andrea appointed as Association of Canadian Engineering
Companies (ACEC), representative on the Chief Engineer’s Council
of the Transportation Association of Canada
Norm D’Andrea, P.Eng., Manager, Transportation from our Burnaby
office has been appointed as the
Association of Canadian Engineering
Companies’ (ACEC) representative on
the Chief Engineer’s Council of the
Transportation Association of Canada
(TAC). TAC’s Chief Engineer’s
Council provides a forum for informa-
tion exchange among Canada’s leading transportation professionals to
develop the technical and engineering
guidelines necessary to design safe,
uniform, efficient, and environmentally
sustainable road networks.

Quinn Crosina awarded the American Water Works Association’s
First Place Academic Achievement Award
Quinn Crosina, M.A.Sc. from our Burnaby office was awarded the
American Water Works Association’s First Place Academic
Achievement Award for the Best
Masters Thesis at the annual AWWA
conference in Atlanta in June.
Quinn’s thesis, “A Bench-scale
Evaluation of the Removal of Selected
Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care
Products by UV andUV/H
2O2in
Drinking Water Treatment”, completed
under the supervision of Dr. Peter
Huck and Dr. Sigrid Peldszus of the
University of Waterloo, is an important contribution to the evolving
body of knowledge aimed at addressing the issue of pharmaceuticals
and personal care products as emerging and persistent contaminants
in drinking water. Congratulations, Quinn! |
