Associated Engineering lends
a helping hand to Habitat for Humanity
On August 12 and 13, 2008, several staff from our Saskatoon office assisted Habitat for Humanity on some local projects. Staff helped to convert a job site trailer for use as a classroom to teach high school students carpentry skills. This involved cutting the trailer in half. Other AE staff landscaped the front yard of a recently completed home and laid a sidewalk.
Habitat for Humanity Canada is a national, non-profit organization. Their mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting home ownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty.
Associated Engineering supports “GEERing-Up!” engineering and science camps for kids at UBC
Associated Engineering is a proud supporter of GEERing Up!, UBC Engineering & Science Camps for Kids. This is a non-profit organization with the mandate to promote science, engineering, and technology to youth across the Greater Vancouver area. Designed, organized, and operated by UBC students, the idea is to show our youth how fun and exciting engineering and science can be. The experience is interactive, hands-on, and accessible for all youths.
Associated Engineering
launches Mentoring Program
Mentoring Program benefits company, mentors, and protégés
Associated Engineering strives to foster a work environment that encourages employees to continue to learn and grow. To this end, we have always encouraged informal mentoring between staff. In
today’s competitive market, it is all too clear that attracting, retaining,
and developing talent is vital to the success of an organization.
Therefore, to enhance staff development, as well as recruitment and
retention, Associated Engineering has developed a formal mentoring
program.
The formal mentoring program matches staff at junior, intermediate,
and senior levels to more senior staff. Mentors share resources (networking,
contacts), expertise, values, skills, perspectives, and attitudes
with their protégés to help protégés attain their professional
and personal growth objectives.
Through this program, Associated Engineering has the opportunity to
share and spread our acquired knowledge and know-how. Protégés
have an opportunity to gain wisdom from someone who has travelled
the path before them, and mentors have an opportunity to share their
expertise and knowledge.
