Merry Christmas to all

In 2008 we celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the founding of Associated Engineering. Over the past 60 years, there have been many changes in the consulting engineering industry. At Associated Engineering, we are proud that we remain a financially stable, wholly Canadian, employee-owned company. We believe we are the company that our clients can rely on and call upon for their engineering and project management needs.

In 2008, we also celebrated our continuing contribution to engineering excellence, receiving the Consulting Engineers of BC Award of Excellence for the Thirsk Reservoir Expansion and, with EPCOR, the Alberta Emerald Award for Large Business for the E.L. Smith Water Treatment Plant Upgrade. Congratulations to all those who participated in these projects.

The international economic downturn and reports of a Canadian recession have many organizations and consumers concerned. At Associated Engineering, we remain busy in all our sectors in all our offices and optimistic for the future. In 2008, we launched a new service sector, Renewable Energy, and new asset management software, AssetNav. We continue to diversify and grow, and forecast another successful year in 2009.

While many organizations and consumers are tightening their belts, Associated Engineering recognizes that these times can be the hardest times for those in our communities who are in the greatest need. Associated Engineering continues to invest in the communities in which we live and work; our staff embrace and support this initiative. Thank you to all of our staff for your efforts raising money for charities and working on community events such as the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, and the Canadian Cancer Society. This year we contributed over $180,000 to help build better communities.

As 2008 draws to a close, I want to thank our staff and clients. To our staff, thank you for your dedication and energy to providing our clients with top-notch service, delivering the best possible solutions, and helping make Associated Engineering one of the best places to work. To our clients, thank you for your support and trust.

Please accept our best wishes to you and your families for a very Merry Christmas and peace and prosperity in the New Year.

Kerry Rudd, P.Eng.
President & CEO
