Season's Greetings

Associated Engineering entered 2009 with optimism. While we felt some uncertainty at the economic outlook, we were optimistic that the Federal government’s significant investment of stimulus funds into infrastructure projects would provide long-term benefits to Canadians. As2009 draws to a close, we reflect on another strong year for Associated Engineering. We continued to grow and have had many successes.

To better serve our clients, and support our growing work in the BC Fraser Valley, we opened a new office in Langley. Led by Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Larry Martin, this office has already grown, adding strength to our municipal engineering team.

Associated Engineering received a number of industry awards in 2009. We are particularly proud of the Award of Excellence we received at the Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards for the E.L. Smith Water Treatment Plant Upgrade in Edmonton. Congratulations to the project team and to our client, EPCOR, for the innovation and sustainability demonstrated on this project.

Associated Engineering was also selected as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies, an award which recognizes our business performance, growth, innovation, and dedication to staff. It is an honour to be recognized amongst some of the best companies in the country.

I would also like to congratulate Senior Bridge Engineer, David Harvey on receiving the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC’s highest honour for professional engineers, the R.A. McLachlan Memorial Award. Congratulations, David.

Recognizing that Christmas can be a very difficult time for many families, especially during this recession, in lieu of sending Christmas cards, Associated Engineering and our staff have contributed to food banks and charities across the country.

In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients for your continued confidence in Associated Engineering. Thanks also to our staff for your dedication to our projects and service to our clients. To our clients, staff and friends, please accept our best wishes for the holiday season and the New Year.

Kerry R. Rudd, P.Eng
President & CEO
