Hydrogeologist (Senior) [Full Time]

Summit Environmental Consultants Inc. is the environmental science group within Associated Engineering, providing a range of consulting services in the environmental assessment and planning, water resources management, environmental management, and information management/GIS sectors. Our clients include industry; federal, provincial, and local governments; First Nations; and small business.

Position

We are currently searching for a Hydrogeologist (Senior) in our Vernon office.

Reporting to the Water Resources Group Manager, the successful candidate will play a leading role in the growth of our hydrogeology practice in western and northern Canada, and be responsible for the following:

  • Providing senior technical leadership to projects
  • Preparing project reports, technical memos, and letters
  • Recruiting, hiring, supervising, and mentoring staff
  • Developing and managing client relationships
  • Developing business through proposals and other means.

You will work with a dynamic team on a variety of assignments relating to groundwater supply, wastewater and stormwater management, environmental monitoring, solid waste, water resources management, mining, and contaminated sites assessment and remediation. Some travel is required for this position.

Requirements

Candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • Post-graduate (M.Sc. or equivalent) degree in hydrogeology, physical geography, earth science, or water resources engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Minimum 8 years of post-graduation experience in consulting or research
  • Professional registration (P.Geo., P.Ag., P.Eng.) or eligible to be registered
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in hydrogeology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with software used for word processing, data management, technical analyses, modelling, and presentations
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Proven success developing business and maintaining client relationships
  • Experience in several sectors including water supply, contaminated sites, mining, energy, and waste management
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Project management experience or aptitude
  • Commitment to working in a team environment.
