Environmental Scientist (Senior)[Full Time]

An employee-owned, Canadian company, Associated Engineering provides a broad base of consulting engineering services in the infrastructure, water, transportation, environmental, building, energy, and asset management sectors.

Summit Environmental Consultants Inc. is the environmental science group within Associated Engineering, providing a range of consulting services in the environmental assessment and planning, water resources management, environmental management, and information management/GIS sectors. Our clients include industry; federal, provincial, and local governments; First Nations; and small business.

Position

We are currently searching for a Environmental Scientist (Senior) in our Saskatoon office.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the successful applicant will play a leadership role in expanding our environmental practice in Saskatchewan. The candidate will develop business and lead projects for federal, provincial, local and First Nations governments, mining and oil and gas firms, watershed organizations, construction companies, utilities groups, and small businesses throughout Saskatchewan and across western and northern Canada. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Developing new business
  • Providing senior technical and project management leadership to projects
  • Developing and managing client relationships
  • Recruiting, supervising, and mentoring staff.

 

Requirements

Candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • An undergraduate or post-graduate degree in an environmental discipline (e.g. biology, ecology, physical geography, land use and environmental studies, or natural resource science)
  • Minimum of 5 years of consulting or applied research experience
  • Professional registration or eligibility for registration with a professional organization
  • Knowledge of terrestrial or aquatic ecology
  • Knowledge of Species at Risk and sensitive habitats in central Canada
  • Proven success developing business and maintaining client relationships
  • Experience completing environmental impact assessments
  • Experience working with federal and provincial regulatory processes
  • Experience liaising with regulatory agents and First Nations groups
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
