Environmental Scientist (Intermediate) [Full Time]

Position

We are currently searching for an Environmental Scientist (Intermediate) in our Saskatoon office.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the successful applicant will lead technical components of projects and manage projects for federal, provincial, local and First Nations governments, mining and oil and gas firms, watershed organizations, construction companies, utilities groups, and small businesses throughout Saskatchewan and across western and northern Canada. Potential candidates will also play a leadership role in expanding and leading our environmental practice in Saskatchewan. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Managing projects, including budget and schedule management, client liaison, technical leadership and coordinating project teams
  • Providing technical assistance on multi-discipline projects
  • Preparing high-quality proposals and technical reports
  • Business development, including proposal writing; and developing and managing client relationships
  • Recruiting, supervising, and mentoring staff.

 

Requirements

Candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • An undergraduate or post-graduate degree in an environmental discipline (e.g. biology, ecology, physical geography, land use and environmental studies, or natural resource science)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of consulting experience
  • Knowledge of terrestrial ecology
  • Practical experience in terrestrial environmental assessments, and environmental inventory (e.g., vegetation, amphibian, and bird field surveys) in Saskatchewan
  • Knowledge of Species at Risk and sensitive habitats in central Canada
  • History of integrating environmental requirements into engineering projects at the proposal, business development, pre-design, design, and construction phases
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with federal and provincial regulatory processes in Saskatchewan
  • Experience in liaising with First Nations including knowledge of the AANDC and related regulatory processes
  • Professional registration or eligibility for registration with a professional organization (e.g. P.Ag., P.Biol., P. Geol., RPF)
  • Demonstrate strong interest and aptitude for developing business and maintaining client relationships
  • Strong knowledge of the Saskatchewan market, including key local and regional players, as well as an understanding of environmental regulatory frameworks and policy associated with all levels of government.
  • Proven success in collaboratively supporting, working in conjunction with, and advising our various practices by successfully integrating environmental components and finding balanced solutions for a wide range of projects.
