Hydraulic & Hydrologic Engineering

Associated Engineering offers a wide range of services in the Water Resources field. The strength of our water resources team results from their expertise in hydraulic and hydrologic engineering, combined with their ability to use and interpret stormwater management software. Our staff are fully versed in the use of hydraulic modelling software including HYDSYS, HEC-RAS, HEC-2, OTTHYMO, SWMHYMO, XP-SWMM, and MIDUSS, and hydrologic information such as HYDAT and IDF data. Moreover, our staff bring to projects decades of stormwater management experience in a wide range of environments, from forests, to rural, to urban, to industrial.

Our experience includes the following areas:

  • River Engineering
  • Erosion Control
  • Flood Control Facilities
  • Water Diversion Systems
  • Intake Structures
  • Stormwater Management
  • Pump Stations
  • Pipelines

Structures

Associated Engineering has designed both major and minor water resource structures. Our team of water resources, civil, and structural design experts offers practical design alternatives to water resource problems. Our experience includes design and construction of:

  • Bridges
  • Culverts
  • Stream Diversions
  • Docks
  • Marinas
  • Breakwaters
  • Ice Bridges
  • Dykes
  • Spillways
  • Inlet Structures

Irrigation

Effective irrigation is a necessity in many locations around the world. Associated Engineering personnel have assisted many communities to improve their lives through proper irrigation. We have completed assignments ranging from small, isolated irrigation works to large, regional irrigation projects in Canada and abroad. Associated Engineering strives to design innovative yet practical irrigation solutions.

Our extensi ve services include planning, design and construction for the following irrigation-related projects:
  • Irrigation and Drainage Facilities
  • Dams
  • Reservoirs
  • Spillways
  • Aqueducts
  • Dyke Systems

Watershed Management & Environmental Protection

Associated Engineering offers full service watershed management studies, environmental impact assessments, and related works. We have extensive experience in modelling watershed characteristics, and have several powerful modelling software packages. We also have the expertise to perform detailed studies in all aspects of water resource engineering.

We recognize our responsibility to ensure that resources used today will not limit the prospects of future generations to maintain or improve their use. Recently, Associated Engineering designed the first Canadian application of ozone treatment technology for inter-basin water resource management. As stewards of our environment, Associated Engineering is committed to protect and enhance our freshwater resources.

Some of our services include:
  • Flow Monitoring
  • Watershed Modelling
  • Watershed Multi-use Plans
  • Habitat Protection, Mitigation, and Compensation
