Meeting
increasingly stringent water quality standards demands experienced and dedicated
water treatment specialists with the ability to characterize water quality
and the knowledge to develop the appropriate treatment process. As leaders
in water treatment in Canada, our specialists have designed water treatment
facilities which incorporate current and developing treatment technologies
and techniques and state-of-the-art control systems. Associated Engineering
has employed emerging technologies such as integrated membrane ultrafiltration
and ultraviolet light (UV) disinfection in water treatment. We designed
the first Canadian water treatment plant using biological iron, arsenic and
ammonia removal as pre-conditioning for reverse osmosis membrane filtration.
Associated Engineering encourages innovation where it is in the best interest
of our client, the project, and public health and safety. While we are always
looking for opportunities to innovate, we also believe in traditional solutions
where they best meet the design criteria. The best engineered designs balance
the clients' technical requirements with cost-effective solutions .
Associated Engineering’s project experience ranges from treating the
pristine watersheds of the west coast to the highly used watersheds in Ontario. Project
sizes range from systems for small remote communities to large cities. We
have also designed water treatment facilities in international locales such
as Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Vietnam. Our successful water treatment plants
result from the experience and synergy of our multi-discipline, in-house team
of water treatment specialists, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical,
and instrumentation engineers.

With increased attention and concern over the safety of drinking
water, more utilities are experiencing boil water orders. Associated Engineering
staff have been consulted during a number of these events. In some cases, we have
assisted in resolving the water quality problems. Through this experience, we
have identified a number of common characteristics which, if addressed ahead of
time, could help to either avert a boil water order event or at least assist in
resolving it quicker with fewer negative impacts. As a working tool, we have developed a method
for a Water
Quality Excursion Response PlanWe are pleased to provide the Water Quality
Excursion Response Plan on our web site to assist utilities and their operators
in developing similar plans. We also provide a Forms
Check List as well as a partially
completed Forms Check List as an example.
