Keenan Kitasaka is a Senior Professional Engineer with over 30 years of consulting and public sector experience (federal, provincial and regional levels). He is an expert in transportation engineering, planning, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
Keenan is highly experienced in the coordination and integration of provincial and regional ITS initiatives and applications. Previously with TransLink, Keenan was the chair of the Region’s ITS Advisory Board that coordinates ITS programs for all Metro Vancouver agencies. In addition, he served on the International Mobility Trade Corridor (IMTC) steering committee, addressing trade, transportation and tourism at the Washington State/BC border. Keenan also administered the ITS Department, managed internal and consultant staff and developed TransLink’s ITS programs.
Keenan is particularly skilled in the visionary aspects of strategic planning of ITS initiatives and as Chair of the ITS Advisory Board, he led the development of two successful ITS Strategic Plans (2001 and 2013), as well as numerous working level strategies for implementation of specific ITS applications. He is a member of the ITS Canada Board of Directors and Executive Committee, as well as a member of the Connected Vehicle Committee and Autonomous Vehicle Task Force in ITS Canada.
