Burrard Bridge project wins City of Vancouver 2019 Heritage Award of Honour

Burrard Bridge

On Monday evening, the City of Vancouver hosted their biennial Heritage Awards event and presented the project team responsible for the Burrard Street Bridge Retrofit and Rehabilitation project with a 2019 Heritage Award of Honour for "demonstrating an outstanding contribution to heritage conservation, advocacy, education and awareness, or community revitalization". Associated Engineering led the preliminary and detailed design for the retrofit and rehabilitation of the 86 year old bridge.

"This is to recognize the restoration of structural and design elements, while introducing new elements in a respectful manner to allow for continued and improved public use of the Burrard Street Bridge."

This year, a five-member jury presented awards to 21 organizations and individuals in three award categories to recognize efforts to conserve and protect heritage resources in the City of Vancouver.

Last month, the project also received the Heritage BC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Heritage Conservation.
