Our COVID-19 Response - March 19 Update

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is having an unprecedented impact on people and organizations around the world. At Associated Engineering, the health and safety of our staff, clients, and communities are our top priority.  This is why we have implemented measures to safeguard our staff and clients and to do our part to limit the spread of COVID-19. While these protocols will evolve with changes in the transmission of COVID-19 and in response to new information on the pandemic, we want to share these protocols with you.

Pandemic Response Team

We have established a Pandemic Response Team and a Pandemic Response Plan for COVID-19. We are actively carrying out our plan, supported by COVID-19 Response Coordinators in each of our offices.

We are following the advice given by the World Health OrganizationGovernment of Canada, and Provincial and Territorial Governments and Health Authorities. We continue to actively monitor information regarding this pandemic and to implement measures that may be required to ensure the health and safety of our staff and clients.

Workplace

Currently, all 21 of our offices are operational, and we remain committed to delivering your projects.

Most of our staff are now working from home, and some staff are undertaking key functions from our offices.

We are encouraging all staff to practice good hygiene, such as washing hands and not touching their face, as well as cough and sneeze etiquette, and social distancing.

We request all visitors to our offices to wash their hands before entering the office, in addition to covering coughs and sneezes, and practicing social distancing. Anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms or has been exposed to person(s) with COVID-19 symptoms are asked not to enter our office. Signage reflecting the above has been placed at the entrances to our offices.

We have asked staff to limit gathering in our lunch rooms and meeting areas.

Building management for some of our offices are now restricting building access to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Cleaning and Sanitizing

We have increased the number of hand sanitizer stations in our offices. Our building management has stepped up office cleaning, especially in high traffic areas.

Working Remotely

We have made accommodations for all staff to work remotely. We have the systems and tools in place to continue to advance our clients’ projects. Our staff are readily available by telephone, email, tele-conference or video-conference.

Work-Related Travel

We have cancelled all non-essential travel inside and outside of Canada.

Our staff are continuing project site visits and construction inspections for those sites that remain active. From time-to-time, more than one staff member may be required to visit a project or construction site at the same time. To keep physical distance, we now require staff to travel to site in separate vehicles and maintain appropriate separation while at site, as well as wear necessary personal protective equipment and employ applicable best practices.

Conferences, Tradeshows & Industry Events

We have also suspended attendance at all conferences, tradeshows, and industry events.

Meetings

We are discouraging internal and external face-to-face meetings with clients, stakeholders, and contractors. To maintain communications, we are encouraging the use of online meeting tools, such as video conferencing and teleconferencing.

All face-to-face training sessions have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.

Self-Isolation / Quarantine

We require all staff returning to Canada from abroad to self-quarantine for 14 days, whether or not they are showing symptoms of COVID-19. Any staff feeling ill are required to self-isolate and to contact their Provincial or Territorial Health Authority.

Information Technology

We have the systems and tools in place to allow our staff to work seamlessly from home. Our Corporate IT team have been working hard to review and reinforce our systems to ensure that they are robust and to minimize any potential for disruption to our regular business.

We understand that the COVID-19 pandemic has placed significant stress on our staff, clients, partners and your families. You can count on our continued support and service during these uncertain times.
