The Wascana Centre Authority, after developing a conceptual layout, commissioned Associated Engineering Services Limited to prepare a design for a marina facility for Wascana Lake in Regina.
The principal elements of the marina structure consist of reinforced concrete retaining walls supported by piled buttresses, with boat launching from a structural concrete ramp. Floating walkways and berthing slips provide two rigging bays and fifteen tie-up bays. To assist the Wascana Centre Authority in maintaining the high architectural standards of the overall Wascana development, provision was made for lighting and for a perimeter balustrade integral with the retaining walls.
In addition to enhancing the recreational use of Wascana Centre, the marina and associated landscaping are also intended for use during the 1975 Western Canada Summer Games.
