The opening of Associated Engineering's new Ontario office in Toronto marks an important step in the company's long-term plans for geographic expansion. From its origins in western Canada, Associated has grown into one of Canada's major employee owned consulting engineering organizations. The company offers comprehensive services, both domestically and abroad, to all levels of government as well as to private sector clients. Associated provides consulting services in many fields including water supply, waste treatment and pollution control, water resource development, urban development, transportation and industrial site servicing.
Our Ontario operation is taking advantage of our extensive experience in Canada and the international marketplace to concentrate initially on developing work in the water supply/treatment and pollution control fields.
We have designed many of the major water treatment plants in western Canada including plants for Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Prince Albert, Lloydminster, Lethbridge and Red Deer. We have recently been commissioned for an expansion of the Buffalo Pound water treatment plant in Regina. Associated is also developing, expanding and optimizing water treatment plants in urban centres, such as the plant in Taber, Alberta.
Within Canada our plants include the most advanced process and control system technology. However, developing countries require a different approach. In these locations, operational and maintenance considerations favour less sophisticated, manually controlled plants. A major new water treatment plant serving Accra, the capital of Ghana, was completed earlier this year and a new plant in Ethiopia is currently being designed.
Associated's expertise includes a strong background in the development of regional water supply and sewage disposal systems. The company engineered most of the regional water lines around the City of Edmonton, to service communities as far away as 80 kilometres. Associated has extensive experience in sewage treatment and pollution control in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and northern Canada. Projects include the recently completed pollution control centre for Comox-Strathcona on Vancouver Island, which incorporates one of the first sludge composting facilities in Canada. Work is underway on several sewage treatment facilities in the municipalities of Crowsnest Pass, Rocky Mountain House, Cold Lake, Taber and Vernon.
Associated Engineering's Ontario team brings technical expertise and experience in water supply, sewage treatment and water resources projects in Canada and abroad. Their recent experience includes major water, sewage and irrigation projects. The Ontario office will support its own technical staff and will draw on the extensive capabilities of senior engineers throughout the group such as Basil O'Brien, Al Livingston, Dave Popkin and Rick Corbett, all of whom have many years of experience in the supply and treatment fields.
The Ontario office is located at Suite 107, 16 Four Seasons Place, Toronto.
Today, our Ontario operation continues to grow and thrive with three well staffed office locations in Markham, Kitchener, and Niagara-on-the-Lake, providing industry-leading engineering and project management services in infrastructure, water/wastewater, transportation, bridges and structures, to many public and private sector clients throughout the province.
