We are currently searching for an On-Site Construction Contract Administrator/Inspector (Senior) for our Water Division in our Markham office. You will join a dynamic team active on municipal and industrial engineering multi-discipline design projects for a variety of public and private sector clients.

how you'll contribute to our company

You will be responsible for providing on-site oversight of the construction of a $25M multi-discipline retrofit design project for one of our GTA clients. You will also assist with daily contract administration duties as well as site inspection duties to monitor Contractor progress, workmanship, and conformance with the contract documents. You will communicate regularly with the AE, Client, and Contractor project teams as well as act as an Ambassador of Associated Engineering in communicating with the public and other stakeholders through the duration of the construction contract.

This position is a contract position and has the opportunity for extension, transition to a full-time position, and/or career advancement as you demonstrate the skills and desire to take on additional responsibilities.

Salary range: Up to $50 per hour (depending on experience and skillsets)

what you will bring to the table

You should have the following qualifications:

  • Interest in pursuing a career in construction contract administration and on-site inspection
  • Minimum of a Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction, Construction Management, or equivalent field from an accredited college
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a construction role
  • Previous experience working for a consulting engineering firm and/or a construction firm is an asset
  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment facility design and construction is an asset
  • Experience with multi-discipline design coordination and construction is an asset
  • Experience with contract administration and on-site inspection principles, practices, and techniques
  • Familiarity with applicable local building/construction codes
  • Knowledge of construction contract interpretation and construction acts
  • Experience with monitoring and coordinating activities on a construction project including liaising with the Client, Contractors, Approvals Officers, and Public as required
  • Preparation of various contract administration paperwork including agendas, minutes, daily logs, photographic records, request for information, testing reports, change orders, deficiency lists, construction certificates
  • Experience with project scheduling computer software in assessing construction progress compared to tendered schedule
  • Knowledge of construction products, materials, and equipment
  • Inspection and conformance of construction works with contract documents and engineering design
  • Experience with interpretation of specifications, plans, and regulations
  • Experience with preparing engineering sketches, technical specifications, quantity take-offs, and cost estimation
  • Experience with start-up and commissioning of mechanical systems, as well as post-construction warranty services
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects
  • Possess valid construction safety certificates – fall arrest protection, confined space, WHIMIS, first-aid, CPR level A, automated external defibrillator (AED) training – an asset
  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and the latest version of AutoCAD
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including use of email and video conferencing technologies
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Committed team player
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
