We are currently searching for a Junior to Intermediate Building Structural Engineer for our Vancouver office. You will work with senior and intermediate engineers and technologists to provide design, assistant project management and coordination, analysis, cost estimating and construction inspection services for a variety of public and private sector clients with a focus on the buildings sector. You will have experience in multiple market sectors which could include the following: education and research, government and emergency services, sports and recreation, healthcare, commercial, industrial and office space, and arts and culture.

how you'll contribute to our company

Your responsibilities will include engineering design, analysis and support, structural inspection, and reporting, as required for the following:

  • Buildings and water retaining structures
  • Structures in support of our linear infrastructure requirements
  • Assistance with proposal preparation and marketing
  • Resident engineering services as required
  • Create contract documents for all stages of project delivery including client approval, coordination with project manager/clients, tender submission, permit approval, construction, and record (post construction)
  • Develop details in accordance with design intent
  • Have a sound understanding of structural drawings
  • Be involved in ongoing communication and coordination with other consultants and production team members
  • Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge resources
  • Be creative and innovative in problem solving
  • Assist with ongoing education/training

what you will bring to the table

You should have the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Registered as a P.Eng with EGBC, or eligible to register within the next 12 months
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in design and analysis of structural projects, with a focus on buildings
  • Experience in seismic design and detailing
  • Experience in structural steel and concrete design
  • Experience in timber and masonry designs would be an asset
  • Technical expertise in the design, rehabilitation, and construction of buildings
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software and other structural design software
  • Knowledge of National and Provincial Building Codes
  • Experience in construction inspection
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Available to travel on occasion
