The Design-Build project has been designed for an average wet weather flow of 4500 cubic metres/day. The treated effluent will be pumped from the new plant site and transported into a wetland area through a new pipeline/outfall. The plant is considered a Class I facility under the Municipal Wastewater Regulation application.
The Corporation of Hamilton and the Government of Bermuda embarked on a planning study to evaluate the upgrade of the current level of wastewater treatment to secondary treatment. Associated Engineering undertook the study and led a series of workshops with stakeholder groups to set goals, uncover the issues, and determine possible directions.
For nearly 30 years, Associated Engineering has provided engineering services to the Corporation of Hamilton in Bermuda and the Goverment of Bermuda on a wide variety of projects. One notable project has been the planning, designing, and constructing of the new Front Street Wastewater Treatment Plant in 2002.
Associated examined various magnesium ammonium phosphate crystallization technologies and developed a conceptual design for system integration within the treatment plant. A key aspect of the work was examining the plant-wide implications, through process modelling using the Biowin®, of non-recovered phosphorus and nitrogen in the solids handling return streams.

Our Water Resource Recovery team works with clients to develop beneficial resource recovery and reuse solutions, including the most basic of all: recovering water for reintegration into the aquatic environment. Our expertise includes water reclamation and reuse, heat energy recovery, biosolids nutrient and energy recovery, and biogas generation and use.
