Associated Environmental provided environmental assessment and agricultural capability services for the development of the Area Services Plan (ASP) for the Commonage area in Vernon, B.C. The Commonage is a 1,600 ha area of farmland, grasslands, and forests that was proposed for annexation into the City. The team identified environmentally sensitive areas using current Sensitive Ecosystem Inventory and provided guidance on optimal locations for development, parks, agriculture, infrastructue, ecosystem conservation, and trails.
Pulp residual has been applied as a soil amendment to agricultural lands in the Peace River area since 1998. Associated Environmental works with the pulp mill to ensure that residual is applied to agricultural fields such that farmers can maximize their yields, and this allows the client to re-use the pulp residual in a sustainable way.
Associated Environmental completed an agricultural capability assessment on a 9-hectare property in Kelowna, B.C. A review of exisiting information on soils, agricultural capability, climate, satellite imagery and relevant reports as well as details of the field investigation were part of the assessment report submitted to the Agricultural Land Commission and the City of Kelowna.
