Congratulations to our Winnipeg-based project team led by Ken Anderson, and our client, Sioux Valley Dakota Nation and Prairie Water Consultants, on being recognized at the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies Manitoba (ACEC-MB) 2025 Awards of Excellence in Consulting Engineering! The Sioux Valley Water Treatment Plant project was presented with an Award of Merit in the Municipal & Water Technology category at the awards gala held on April 24.

The Sioux Valley Dakota Nation’s 40-year-old water treatment plant had become a major obstacle to community health and economic development due to inconsistent water supply, water quality issues, and its location in a floodplain. In June 2022, Associated Engineering was retained to design and administer the construction of a new $12 million water treatment plant. The facility was successfully commissioned and online in November 2024.

The new water treatment plant not only improves water quality and provides robust fire protection pumping, but also offers a more reliable and resilient water supply that ensures long-term water sustainability and will help to facilitate future growth in the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.
Key members of our project team included Ken Anderson, Robyn Grahame, Carlos Hendricks, Edwin Klassen, David Sorenson, Chris Houston, Scott Arran, Colin McKinnon, and Gordon Will.
