Associated Environmental provided environmental services for the replacement of a 40 m long boardwalk over an oxbow of Whitemud Creek within the North Saskatchewan River Valley.
This ongoing project has required several environmental assessments. Two levels of municipal environmental review were required: an initial project review, and an environmental screening report.
We also conducted a biophysical assessment and managed two geotechnical assessments and a paleontological assessment of the project area. Regulatory frameworks guiding the work included the Fisheries Act, the Water Act (AB), the Public Lands Act (AB), and the Historical Resources Act (AB). We completed applications for the regulatory approvals, and sought municipal regulation clearances under the North Saskatchewan River Valley Redevelopment Plan (Bylaw No. 7188), and the City of Edmonton Corporate Tree Management Policy (C546A).
The 40 m long boardwalk will include nature signs, a scenic path, and separate pedestrian and bike lanes
