The Chippewas of Nawash First Nation is located on Bruce Peninsula approximately 60 kilometres north of Owen Sound.
Since opening in Fall 2013, the Kikendaasogaming Elementary School has experienced numerous electrical, structural and mechanical deficiencies.
The Chippewas of Nawash retained Associated Engineering to perform an assessment of the condition of the school to assist with identifying appropriate repair solutions as well as prioritize deficiencies to be addressed. We worked with the First Nation to first address the deficiencies deemed to be most critical, based on health and safety and building code compliance considerations, ahead of the 2018 school year.

Project Highlights
The identified critical repairs were mainly electrical, consisting of replacing indoor lights and their associated controls, modifying panel boards, adding surge suppression, and performing grounding repair works.
We subsequently assisted in the design and coordination of construction works to address the remaining electrical, structural and mechanical deficiencies in a staged manner throughout the school year to minimize disruption to the school students and staff.
