The City of Port Moody retained Associated Engineering to complete the detailed design of a sidewalk widening and seismic retrofit of the Moody Street Overpass.
Located in Port Moody, the overpass connects Clarke Road and St. Johns Street with Murray Street for both commercial and commuter traffic, as well as providing pedestrians access to the popular Rocky Point Park.
The project involved widening the bridge sidewalk into a multi-use pathway cantilevered from the existing bridge using steel bracing, as well as carbon fibre strengthening of pier columns, retrofits to the concrete crash walls beside the railway, deck joint elimination, and re-articulation of the bridge. The pathway is separated from traffic with a concrete barrier complete with bicycle height railings, and connected to Rocky Point with a 170 m long ramp.
