Associated was the lead environmental and engineering consultant for the repairs to a 55 km section of Highway 40, south of Kananaskis Lakes in southern Alberta after the 2013 floods.
Environmental staff were responsible for navigating all regulatory approvals processes (Fisheries Act, Water Act, Public Lands Act, Navigation Protection Act), developing recommendations including completing fish and fish habitat assessments, completing on-site monitoring during construction activities, and collaborating on designs to minimize impacts on fish and fish habitat. The project received a Consulting Engineers of Alberta Award of Merit for Environmental in 2015.
