Parks Canada Agency retained Associated Environmental to complete a Hazardous Materials Survey at the Warden/Tech/Trades and garage buildings.
The Agency required a pre-renovation Hazardous Materials Survey as part of their due diligence practice to identify potential environmental and/or human health risks associated with certain hazardous materials. These included asbestos-containing materials, mercury, lead- or mercury-based paint, polychlorinated biphenyls, and mould.

Project Highlights
The objective of the Hazardous Materials Survey was to determine the presence and extent of hazardous materials at the buildings in order to develop specifications and a construction cost estimate for hazardous material abatement for the roof, HVAC, and boiler renovation projects. The interior and exterior of the buildings were completely assessed, but only areas relevant to the renovation projects required abatement specifications and construction cost estimates.
We developed abatement specifications and cost estimates for the renovation areas, supported selection of the successful contractor, and conducted air monitoring during high risk and moderate risk abatement activities.
