Associated Engineering, in cooperation with ONPA Architects Ltd., was retained to provide engineering and architectural design and consulting services for the proposed upgrades to the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation School.

AE’s work included civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering. As a renovation project, we worked closely with the contractor, the school leadership and board, Council and INAC to adjust the scope as we progressed. This approach allowed the work to be tailored to best suit the needs of the users, the students and staff. Associated was able to achieve good value for the budget by using a Construction Management project delivery system, which provided excellent flexibility.

The completed project has helped to provide new life to the existing school facility, while dramatically improving safety, comfort and the learning environment. Upgrades included a heating and ventilation retrofit, domestic hot water heating refurbishment, a new HVAC control system, lighting and power system upgrades, building envelope improvements, drainage improvements, door hardware replacement, gym flooring replacement and other comfort and safety related improvements.
