A CARBON NEUTRAL company

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, and have been a carbon neutral company since 2009.  To offset greenhouse gases produced by day-to-day business practices, we have invested in carbon offsets from a verified carbon retailer, ClimateCare. Our Edmonton head office as well as our Vancouver and Whitehorse offices are LEED buildings.

In 2016, we developed Climate Change Awareness Training. All staff take this 16 module training. On all our projects, we encourage our clients to evaluate and, as applicable, implement climate change mitigation and adaptation measures. Our goal is to collaborate with our clients to build more resilient and sustainable communities and, in doing so, shape a better future for everyone.

To ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns, Associated Engineering has both a Sustainable Purchasing Guideline and a Sustainable Materials Management Guideline which provide best practice guidelines to offices on both the purchasing and end-of-life principles and practices to be followed in consideration to office supplies, fixtures, and waste.

EcoAction

Each of our offices has an active EcoAction Committee, whose role is to improve environmental awareness, reduce office waste, and improve energy efficiencies. Some of the committee’s initiatives include office composting and recycling programs, annual Shoreline Cleanup events, and staff seminars that share green techniques and tips from their professional discipline.

Associated Engineering has a long history of giving back to the communities in which we work and live. We contribute to local and national charities. In doing so, we create stronger and more resilient communities. Associated also gives back to our professional and technical communities. We support our staff who volunteer their time to technical and professional organizations. In addition, we support academic institutions through research, student capstone projects, and financial awards to students. Several of our staff lecture at their local academic institutions as adjunct professors and guest lecturers.
