The Main and Central Substations are the largest that Associated Engineering has designed.
We provided civil, structural and building mechanical engineering expertise on six substation yards (Main, Central, South West, Ore Preparation Plant, Extraction & Tailings, and Co-Gen), and 10 skid substations (four Shovel Subs, two Hydro-transport Booster Subs, two Tailings Booster Subs, one Barge Sub, and one Out-of-Pit Tailings Area [OPTA] Sub). The facilities were designed to deliver 13.8 kV power, the utilization voltage, to various locations within the Fort Hills Facility.
