The objective of this multi-disciplinary planning study was to develop infrastructure improvements after the 2021 flood events that devastated the road network, impacted the economy, and severed the sole access to Nicomen First Nations Community.
The project team conducted a comprehensive review of study area conditions and developed improvement options that restored a more resilient access for the Community. The goal was to provide a new bridge and work with the Ministry of Forests to improve the road and allow community members, emergency services, and school buses to access the road year-round, in an area with steep terrain and significant archeology potential.

Project Highlights
Associated Engineering successfully managed timely project completion, which was particularly critical given the route serves as the sole access to the community. We also helped develop bridge and road realignments that improved roadway geometry to mitigate impact on the community from potential future floods and climate-related access road changes.
