The City of St. Albert’s new Transportation Master Plan represents a new era in transportation planning for the community.
More than roads, sidewalks, and bike lanes, the City’s Transportation Master Plan envisions a future multi-modal community, where the travelling public have a variety of choices for transportation. While understanding the issues facing the car friendly community, the plan challenges the current transportation patterns and identifies opportunities for promoting other transportation modes. The plan considers the City’s strategic, environmental, transit and land use planning goals, and considers the important role that St. Albert plays in the greater Edmonton Capital Region.

Project Highlights
The development of the Plan required coordinating and understanding the issues and perspectives of groups within the City, sub-consultants, stakeholders, and, most importantly, the public. The project team used a variety of tools to develop this vision, including stakeholder engagement, community consultation, data collection, desktop analysis, site visits, and traffic analysis. This unique plan straddles the line between vision casting and policy building, and provides definitive and strategic infrastructure recommendations. The new Transportation Master Plan places the City of St. Albert on a path for sustainable, multi-modal transportation, providing more transportation options for residents and travellers.
