Broadway Street Infrastructure Improvements

Location

Yorkton, Saskatchewan

Expertise

Urban Drainage

The City of Yorkton engaged Associated Engineering to review the overland flow opportunities along Broadway Street as part of the Broadway Street Drainage Infrastructure Improvements project.

Yorkton is a growing city of 17,200 people in east-central Saskatchewan and is the retail and service centre for more than 200,000 residents of the eastern part of the province and western Manitoba.

The City plans to improve the infrastructure along Broadway Street, including any portions of the storm water system that are undersized and/or are in need of repair.  Prior to this work being completed, the City requested that several tasks be undertaken to review the existing infrastructure and provide recommendations.

Project Highlights

We completed a review of the stormwater piping along Broadway Street between Highway 10 and Highway 9 for potential upgrades, and conceptual trunk sewer alternatives. Our team also reviewed previously completed work to determine if certain servicing options or scenarios that were previously deemed unrealistic could be achieved and incorporated into the proposed upgrades. Much of the analysis and modelling work was completed using MIKE URBAN by DHI.
