Christina Lake Active Transportation Plan

Associated Engineering led the development of the Christina Lake Active Transportation Plan to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety and connectivity, while balancing Highway 3’s role as a transportation corridor and community main street.

The plan provides a vision for moving people through Christina Lake by prioritizing walking/biking/rolling while respecting the Community’s rural character. Our project team identified key barriers and opportunities and developed a strategic network that enhances accessibility. An Active Transportation Bridge adjacent to Highway 3 was selected as a critical first project, providing a safe, dedicated crossing away from highway traffic.

Project Highlights

We facilitated engagement with residents, businesses, and stakeholders and worked with the BC Ministry of Transportation to align strategies with funding opportunities. A phased, right-sized implementation approach was recommended to ensure practical, cost-effective improvements aligned with the community’s long-term land use and transportation goals. The plan serves as a roadmap for decision-makers to enhance safety, connectivity, and sustainability.
