As part of the Regional Municipality of York’s Infrastructure Improvement Program, the Keswick Water Treatment Plant was identified as a water supply system component that required high priority rehabilitation.
The plant is one of two owned and operated by York Region that supply drinking water to the Town of Georgina and communities of Keswick and Sutton, and is a conventional filtration plant with a rated capacity of 16.2 million litres per day. The plant draws raw water from Lake Simcoe via a 600 mm diameter intake pipe located 365 metres offshore into Cook’s Bay.
The Regional Municipality of York retained Associated Engineering to provide preliminary design, detailed design, contract administration, and site inspection services. The Keswick Water Treatment Plant Upgrades was a focused rehabilitation project intended to restore rated capacity, introduce treatment and energy efficiencies, and add many years of useful life to a 30 year old water treatment plant.
