Associated Engineering led a comprehensive waterfront infrastructure upgrade, replacing an aging floating dock with a resilient structure. Our design included a dedicated emergency boat dock and a convenient floating walkway connecting the rowing facility to the parking lot. Safety and sustainability were paramount in our approach.
We selected durable molded fiberglass grating for the deck, providing slip resistance and comfort for its users. The mesh grating also allows light penetration, minimizing environmental impact. To accommodate local wildlife, particularly smaller animals, the walkway was constructed in smaller sections, ensuring ease of passage. Departing from traditional methods, we employed innovative materials for enhanced safety and accessibility. Notably, a spacious three-meter-wide floating walkway meets COVID-19 distancing requirements and enables seamless disability access. Our ongoing collaboration with the City of Burnaby emphasizes our commitment to sustainability and community safety.
