The Government of the Northwest Territories Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Land and Water Division expressed interest in developing a user-friendly, accurate and reliable way to input, store, manage and analyze program data.
Associated Environmental held a two-day collaborative workshop with Division staff to storyboard data flow, needs and requirements. Our workshop focused on evaluating three potential mobile (Trimble Yuma hand-held) software applications:
- A water quality monitoring data collection module
- A data collection module for muskrat/beaver/mink/fish/vegetation occurrences and Traditional Knowledge data
- A data collection wizard for water quality data collection by community members
We provided a development schedule for a centralized system that meets the immediate needs of programs and staff as well as future requirements.
